Located in southeast New Mexico and west Texas, the Permian is pumping more oil than anywhere else on Earth — and has been for years. Production has more than quadrupled in the past decade, and it’s projected to keep growing aggressively for decades to come.

And it's a hellscape. Wells are spewing toxic emissions and leaking flammable gases daily. Exxon has reported 778 spills of climate-warming emissions — in New Mexico alone. This is a disaster for public health, the climate, and frontline communities.
