The top polluter in New Mexico, Exxon Mobil, is the also the sponsor of @balloonfiesta.
ExxonMobil drills and fracks in New Mexico through its subsidiary XTO Energy, which was THE TOP spiller of toxic material across the state in 2024.
In just the first six months of 2025, XTO has already spilled at least 4,486 barrels (188,412 gallons) of toxic liquids in the Land of Enchantment.
Over 61,000 gallons has been reported as “lost” to the environment, adding a cocktail of heavy metals, hazardous chemicals, and radioactive material to the environment.
