Oil and gas companies spill toxic "produced water" daily in Lea County

Oil and gas companies spill an average 4 times in New Mexico every single day! 😩😩

Ameredev Operating, spilled 435 barrels of toxic waste called “produced water” in Lea County in June 2024. That’s over 18,000 gallons!

In 2022, Ameredev spilled 511 barrels (21,462 gallons) of produced water from a failed pipe and polluted a watershed.

😡😡Ameredev hasn’t been fined for either of these large spills.

“Produced water” contains toxic chemicals that industry can keep hidden as “trade secrets,” which means we don’t know what’s been spilled or how dangerous it is.

It’s time to change the law in NM to put public health over profits.
