New Rule vs Petition at the New Mexio Water Quality Control Commission

😅 Just a few short weeks after the New Mexico Water Quality Control Commission adopted a rule prohibiting the discharge of oil and gas wastewater into New Mexico aquifers, a brand new industry trade group filed its own petition.

🚚 The petition would would authorize the Environment Department to start issuing permits for reuse and discharge of waste from full-scale commercial and industrial uses, dust control and construction.

⚠️Seriously?!

🚰 Dumping this oil and gas waste directly into New Mexico’s rivers, streams, and aquifers is a terrible idea. To hold the line against a coming flood of toxic waste, we will need all of you to speak up!
