📈 New Mexico's biggest oil and gas spill of the first quarter of 2025 occurred on February 7th when DCP Operating had a pipeline blowout that released 18,647,000,000 (18.6 billion) cubic feet of natural gas into the air.
🔥 "Natural gas" is code for methane, which is the primary component of natural gas. Methane is a climate-destroyer, 80x more potent than carbon dioxide for warming the climate system. In the Permian Basin, the highest producing oilfield in the world, methane emissions are out of control.
