Leak of the Week #3 (Part 1)

Did you know oil production is growing faster in NM than any other state? That's why we're bringing you Leak of the Week, and this week's installment is brought to you by EOG Resources, which used to be Enron Oil & Gas.

Remember Enron? The energy company sued by its own shareholders for fraud whose CEO to prison? Well, today EOG Resources pulls fossil fuels out of earth across the U.S. and has spilled over 142,000 bbl (5.9 million gallons) of toxic fluids in New Mexico alone. Out of almost 1,500 spills, over 1,000 them have been on public land, and the biggest cause of these spills = equipment failure.
